The compact SUV was an immediate success when it first arrived in 2021, providing all the performance and efficiency benefits of EV tech alongside exceptional everyday convenience. The new 2024 release seems certain to maintain the model’s popularity. Here’s why.
Attractively Eye-Catching Design
The EV6 makes a strong impression from the outset, with a stylish, tastefully futuristic design combining contoured panels with a swept-back profile to create a strong road presence outweighing its compact size. Add in the available 21-inch wheels with prominent arch surrounds, and the final effect is sporty and powerful without straining too hard to capture attention.
Advanced All-Electric Powertrains
With the EV6, there’s no need to keep a wary eye on battery charge as you go about your daily drives. The engineering is based around three main powertrain configurations, all offering a long driving range alongside efficiently fast charging to make the model just as convenient as any traditional gas-powered vehicle.
At the base level, an electric motor couples with a 77.4kWh battery to make a generous 225 horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque, feeding rear-wheel drive for precise and responsive handling. Despite the substantial output, the maximum driving range is an impressive 499km, while a fast charge facility can take the battery from 10-80% in just 18 minutes, barely enough time to grab a coffee.
Moving up a level, an all-wheel-drive model produces fully 320 horsepower and 446lb-ft, along with a maximum range of 454km and the same speedy charging performance. But for the most exhilarating EV6 experience, the GT AWD trim ups the output to a mammoth 576 horsepower and 545lb-ft, delivering searing performance, though with a slightly more limiting maximum range of 332km.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Another advantage of EV engineering is shown by the interior’s spacious comfort, as the lack of engine and bulky transmission frees up plenty of space to create legroom figures of 107.8cm in the front and 99cm in the rear. Comfort is increased even further with heated front seats and steering wheel as standard, with heating in the rear and air cooling in the front available as upgrades.
The level of interior tech is equally impressive, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen offering easy access to infotainment features that include in-built navigation, smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad backed by USB ports in both rows. The infotainment screen is matched by a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, while an available colour heads-up display projects essential driving information onto the windshield so you can keep your attention on the road ahead.
To complete the technology picture, the EV6 also includes a wide range of active safety and driver-assist features as standard, with highlights including:
- Forward collision avoidance with junction-turning function
- Lane-keep assist and lane-follow assist
- Rear cross-traffic collision avoidance system
- Driver-attention monitoring and alerts
