The new 2024 model has just been released, enhanced with an exterior design refresh, an upgraded engine, and a wealth of new technology in the cabin. Here’s why the all-new Kia Seltos is set to maintain the model’s healthy position in the subcompact SUV arena.
Refined Exterior Design
It’s not always easy for a subcompact SUV to stand out from the crowd, but the Seltos has a dynamic presence that outweighs its size. The 2024 model sports a larger, more imposing grille design coupled with eye-catching vertical fog lights, while the chunky SUV outline is softened by sculpted panelling and contrasting black moulding.
Enhanced Performance
Previous Seltos models already offered a generous amount of power under the hood, but the 2024 update pushes performance even higher. The available 1.6L turbo gas engine now provides 20 more horsepower than the outgoing model, bringing the total to 195 alongside 195lb-ft of torque. Considering the Seltos’s size, that’s an ample output to power the frame with assured control on the straight, leaving plenty in reserve for smooth passing and agile cornering.
For the 1.6L turbo model, the powertrain is completed by a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
However, even at the entry level, the standard 2.0L engine makes a punchy 147 horsepower and 132lb-ft, leaving the Seltos perfectly poised for everyday urban duties with a fuel economy as frugal as 7.6L / 100km combined. For this configuration, there’s a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive, with an intelligent variable transmission as standard.
Interior Comforts
The new Seltos also raises its game with a generous set of interior comforts. Heated front seats are standard, with a heated second row and air-cooled front available at higher trim levels. The regular cloth upholstery can be upgraded to sumptuous Sofino leather, matched by a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Lastly, air conditioning is standard throughout the range to provide a comfortable drive whatever the season.
High-End Infotainment and Technology
Even at the entry level, the 2024 Seltos provides a generous level of interior technology, based around an 8-inch touchscreen display providing easy access to features including smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims increase the display size to a mammoth 10.25 inches, and also back it up with a second 10.25-inch display behind the wheel serving as a digital instrument cluster.
The higher trims also include in-built navigation, a head-up display, and a wireless charger, rounding out the tech provision to a standard that outclasses many much costlier vehicles.
Segment-Leading Active Safety and Driver Assist
All 2024 Seltos models are equipped with Kia’s Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems technology, providing a comprehensive suite of active features to make every journey as safe as possible. Key highlights include:
- Forward-collision avoidance with intersection sensing capability
- Lane-departure warnings with lane-follow assist
- Blind-spot monitoring with automatic braking
- Rear cross-traffic alerts with automated braking
- Safe exit-assist system to warn of rear-side traffic when the doors are opened
