2024 Kia Carnival LX
The LX sets the foundation for the other trims to build on, and it makes an impressively solid base. The powertrain is centred on a 3.5L V6 gas engine which creates 290 horsepower and 262lb-ft of torque, delivering the power to move the Carnival’s spacious frame with confidence and responsive control. The output is passed through a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission to front-wheel drive, and despite the ample performance available, fuel economy figures of 8.9L / 100km on the highway and 12.1L in the city are impressively frugal for a vehicle in the minivan segment.
The spacious interior seats up to eight, with removable second-row and foldable third-row seating allowing up to 4, and 110L of versatile cargo space. Comforts including air conditioning and soft cloth seats guarantee a relaxing drive, while the generous amount of infotainment technology is based around an 8″ display with easy access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, and MP3 support.
To complete the impressive feature set, the base LX model includes several active safety features, including forward collision avoidance, lane keep and follow assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear parking sensors.
Carnival LX+
The next-level LX+ trim adds several interior features, starting with heated front seats and power adjustment to the driver’s seat. Tri-zone automatic climate control and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel increase comfort in all weather conditions, while a wireless phone charger, an automatic defogging system, and a smart power liftgate add to everyday convenience.
Carnival EX
The most visible enhancement for the EX trim is the switch from 17″ alloy wheels to chunky 19″ machine-finished alloy models, contributing to a sporty look while also improving handling in difficult conditions. Inside the cabin, the upholstery is upgraded to synthetic leather, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror makes nighttime driving safer and more comfortable.
The EX trim sees the introduction of the Kia Connect system, allowing remote control of climate settings, door locking, engine ignition, and more. The safety suite is also upgraded, with additions including junction-turning awareness for the forward collision avoidance system, along with blind spot collision avoidance for safer highway lane changes.
Carnival EX+
The EX+ trim features several tech upgrades, such as replacing the standard 4.2″ LCD driver display with a 12.3″ fully digital instrument cluster. The multimedia display is also upgraded to a 12.3″ unit, now also including navigation, and a smart cruise control feature uses navigation information to automatically adjust the Carnival’s speed for greater safety. Lastly, blind spot and around-view monitors add greater visibility for extra peace of mind on every trip.
Carnival SX
The SX trim sits at the top of the Carnival range and includes interior luxuries that place it firmly in the premium minivan segment. The second-row bench is switched out for dual captain’s chairs with kick-out leg rests, and the upholstery throughout the cabin is upgraded to genuine leather. The second row of seats gains heating, with air cooling in both the first and second rows, while a premium Bose sound system, LED interior lighting, and a dual-panel powered sunroof round off the satisfyingly upscale feel.
